Types of landslides

By Angie Ramirez

Landslides represent a complex natural phenomenon that depends on different factors such as geology, topography and precipitation, characteristics that together are unique to each location. According to these factors, a specific movement will occur where the loose material tries to move as a single mass.

It is important to consider that it could be possible to find more than one kind of landslide in the same event due to some change (as slope); for example, it could start its movement as a slide and complete its transport a flow.

Considering the different movements, landslides are generally classified into five main categories click the iamges bellow to find out more.
